THE MATCHUP: Mount Holyoke returns to home court on Saturday, squaring-off against non-conference foe, Bryn Mawr College. It marks the 15th all-time meeting between the two programs, dating back to the first game in 1983-84 - an 80-34 MHC win. The Lyons own an 8-6 advantage in the series, but the Owls posted a 38-35 victory in the last game played, which came during the 2008-09 season.
THE LYONS: Mount Holyoke (0-16; 0-9 NEWMAC) is back in action following a tough conference loss to Coast Guard on Wednesday evening. Junior captain Leah Hodges paced the squad's effort with 13 points, three rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks against the Bears. Through the team's 16 contests thus far, Hodges leads all active players with a 9.1 points per game average. Senior forward Kate Rawson is the team's leading rebounder with a 6.1 boards per contest mark, while first year guard Raquel Fitzpatrick boasts a 1.6 steals average.
THE OWLS: Bryn Mawr (0-15; 0-12 Centennial) enters this weekend's action on the heels of a tough loss to Ursinus in Centennial action on Wednesday. Sophomore forward Halena Martin was the offensive catalyst for the Owls, recording a game-best14 points with six rebounds, two steals and a block. On the season, Bryn Mawr is paced by Martin through the first 15 contests with a 12.8 points per game average. Sophomore center Meagan Murray-Bruce owns a team-high 7.6 rebounding average, while also adding a 1.3 blocks per contest mark.
LAST TIME OUT IN 08-09: Mount Holyoke and Bryn Mawr last met on November 22, 2008 at the 27th Annual Seven Sisters Championship, hosted that year by Vassar College. The Owls owned a 20-18 advantage at the half, but saw pressure late for the Lyons, who got within one (36-35) with 23 seconds remaining. A pair of free throws with 14 seconds to play proved to be the difference for the Bryn Mawr victory.
