Field Hockey NEWMAC Quarterfinals: #5 Springfield vs. #4 Mount Holyoke on Tuesday at 7pm

TICKET INFORMATION: Ticket prices for tonight's NEWMAC Field Hockey Quarterfinals are as follows: $5.00 for adults, $3.00 for seniors, $1.00 for students, 12 and under FREE.

THE MATCHUP: Mount Holyoke welcomes Springfield College on Wednesday in the Quarterfinal Round of the NEWMAC Tournament. It will be the 34th all-time meeting between the two programs, dating back to the first meeting in 1974 - a 3-1 Pride victory. Springfield currently owns the all-time seres record with an 18-14-1 mark, but the Lyons have seen the most recent success with wins in each of the last five matchups. 

RECENT HISTORY: Mount Holyoke posted a 4 -2 victory over Springfield on October 1st here in South Hadley. The Lyons netted a pair of goals in each half, two of which came off the stick of senior captain Sophie Perekslis, including the eventual game-winner. Pride keeper Emmalie Drake and Lyons goalie Morgan Turner each had six saves in the contest.

THE LYONS: Mount Holyoke (12-5, 5-3 NEWMAC) is making its 19th straight appearance in the NEWMAC Tournament, dating back to 1999. Last season, the Lyons bested Wellesley in the Quarterfinals to advance to their fourth straight tournament semifinals appearance. MHC has won three NEWMAC Championships, its most recent coming in 2015.

THE PRIDE: Springfield (12-7, 4-4 NEWMAC) is making its 20th straight appearance in the NEWMAC Tournament, dating back to the 1998 season. Last season, the Pride shouldered a tough loss to MIT in the Quarterfinals. Springfield has won seven NEWMAC Championships in its history, the most recent coming in 2008.

NEXT UP: The winner of this evening's Quarterfinal match will advance to the Semifinals of the NEWMAC Tournament, facing top-seeded Babson on Saturday at 11:00am at Babson Park, Mass.
