Lyons Gameday Central: Field Hockey vs. Babson on Saturday at 2pm

THE MATCHUP: Mount Holyoke returns home on Saturday to take on the NEWMAC-rival Beavers of Babson College. It marks the 39th all-time meeting between the two programs, dating back to the first contest in 1984 - a 1-0 Beavers victory. Babson currently owns the all-time series record with a 20-15-3 mark. The Lyons won four straight contests from 2013-15, but the Beavers claimed the wins in both matches last year.

THE LYONS: Mount Holyoke (5-3; 1-1 NEWMAC) is coming off a tough 4-2 loss at the hands of MIT last weekend. Senior captain Sophie Perekslis scored both goals for the Lyons in the opening half against the Engineers, while sophomore keeper Morgan Turner made two stops. On the season, junior midfielder Mirjam Keochakian and Perekslis lead the offense with 12 points. Keochakian has posted five goals and two assists, while Perekslis owns a team-best six goals. In the cage, Turner (5-3) has recorded 34 saves.

THE BEAVERS: Babson (9-1; 2-0 NEWMAC) returns to the field following an upset 2-0 loss at Endicott on Tuesday. Sophomore goalie Deirdre Barry shouldered the loss for the 2nd-ranked Beavers, making two saves overall. This season, Babson's offense has been paced by junior midfielder Ashley Tango, who has seven goals and eight assists for 22 points. In goal, the Beavers have seen Barry (9-1) notch 30 saves.

NEXT UP: Both teams return the field on Tuesday with conference action. Mount Holyoke hosts Springfield at 7pm, while Babson is at Wellesley at 4pm.
