Lyons Gameday Central: Field Hockey vs. Wesleyan on Wednesday

THE MATCHUP: Mount Holyoke returns to action on Wednesday, welcoming the Cardinals of Wesleyan University. It marks the 38th all-time meeting between the two programs, dating back to the first contest in 1979 - a 5-0 Cardinals victory. Wesleyan holds the series advantage at 26-10-1, but the Lyons have seen the most recent success, posting wins in each of the last four meetings.

THE LYONS: Mount Holyoke (4-2; 1-0 NEWMAC) is coming off a 5-0 victory over Thomas College on Sunday, which saw five different players record goals, including the first collegiate goal for sophomore Micaela Pierce. In the cage, the Lyons saw sophomore Morgan Turner (4-2) earn the win, while rookies Gianna Molinari and Maddie Miller also saw quality time in goal.

THE CARDINALS: Wesleyan (2-2; 0-1 NESCAC) is back in action following a tough loss at then-#8 Bowdoin on Saturday. Sophomore goalkeeper Delaney Wood (2-2) compiled a career-high 14 saves, including several outstanding kick saves for the Cardinals.

NEXT UP: Both teams return to action on Saturday as Mount Holyoke travels to NEWMAC-rival MIT for a 3pm showdown, while Wesleyan is home against NESCAC-foe Bates at 12pm.
