THE MATCHUP: Mount Holyoke opens its home schedule on Saturday, welcoming the Spartans of Castleton University. It marks the eighth all-time meeting between the two programs, dating back to the first match in 1978 - a 2-1 MHC win. The Lyons hold the series advantage by a 6-1 margin, including wins in each of the last three contests.

THE LYONS: Mount Holyoke (0-2) is back in action following a heartbreaking 4-3 defeat against #15 Amherst on Thursday evening. Facing a 3-1 deficit in the second half, the Lyons got goals from junior Sophie Perekslis and sophomore Kristina Ramsden to make it a 3-all game. Despite the momentum, Amherst was able to net the go-ahead goal with under eight minutes to seal the win over the #20 Lyons. Senior captain Liz DiCesare recorded 12 saves in goal.

THE SPARTANS: Castleton (2-1) enters today's match following a 10-1 win over Daniel Webster on Sept. 4. The Spartans fired off six goals in the opening half of action, including a pair from junior forward Emily Lowell, who finished with a hat trick in the contest. In goal, first year Tashia Pashby-Rockwood earned the victory with a five-save effort.

NEXT UP: Following today's match, Mount Holyoke is back on the field on Wednesday, hosting Williams College in a 7pm showdown. Castleton returns to action on Tuesday when it hosts Plymouth State at 4pm.
