Mihiliya Methsarani (Panadura, Sri Lanka) of the squash team has been selected as the Mount Holyoke College Athletics "Lyon of the Week" following an impressive weekend at the Pioneer Valley Invitational.
Playing in four of the five matches this past weekend, Methsarani went an impressive 4-0, as each of her wins came against the top student-athlete on nationally-ranked teams. Against No. 20 Wesleyan, Methsarani defeated Aditi Prasad 11-4, 11-6, 11-7 before knocking off Denise Bonilla of No. 24 Connecticut College, 11-4, 11-3, 11-1.
On Sunday, Methsarani continued her impressive play, defeating Hope Worcester of No. 23 Hamilton, 11-2, 11-2, 11-4, before wrapping up the weekend with her most impressive victory, a 11-4, 11-6, 11-7 win over Alexa Jacobs of No. 12 Brown University. This marked the second-consecutive year that Methsarani knocked off Jacobs.
