SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. - This week's Lyon of the Week honors go out to the Mount Holyoke College Novice Crew teams, who powered the Lyons to a second-place finish at the 2013 Seven Sisters Championship. Each boat won their respective race at this year's event, a feat which had not occurred since the 1999 championship.
The first novice eight boat (featured above) posted a time of 17.59 to defeat Wellesley, Simmons, Smith and Bryn Mawr. That boat featured coxswain Leela Woody, along with Briana Chace, Audrey Hildebrandt, Regan Adair, Azulina Green, Molly Lapointe, Alexa Sullivan, Sarah Ramirez and Clara Faerber.
In the second novice eight boat (featured below), the Lyons outpaced Simmons and Wellesley with a mark of 19.46 to claim victory. That boat was led by coxswain Athena Tanada, Molly Thibault, Laura Murphy, Sofia Iaquinto, Minxuan Cao, Moira Brown, Katia Kiefaber, Brittney Nielsenand Chenyue Lu.
The Mount Holyoke Crew teams concluded the fall portion of their season at the Seven Sisters Championship, but return to action in the Spring with a full slate of races.
