The Lyons will now send 19 riders to the Regional Championships, which will be held on March 29 at Bisuit Hill Farm in Shelburne, Mass.
Sophomore Cathleen Pruden (Raleigh, N.C.) heads to the NCAA Championships this week, where she will compete in three events from March 19-22. Pruden will swim in the 200-IM, the 400-IM and the 1650-free. Currently, she is ranked sixth in Division III in the 400-IM after posting a NEWMAC and school record time of 4:25.03 at the NEWMAC Championships in February. Pruden is the first swimmer from MHC to attend Nationals since 1997 when Katie Herrold '00 represented the Lyons.
The Lyons will open the outdoor portion of their season on March 29th when it hosts its own Spring Fling Invitational at 11am. MHC was set to open the outdoor slate this weekend at Westfield State, but the meet was cancelled due to field conditions and ice.
Sophomore attack Julia Bell (Longmeadow, Mass.) posted six goals and two assists, but it wasn't enough as the Lyons fell in their only game last week - a 16-14 decision against Western New England University. Mount Holyoke (1-3) returns to action this week with a three-game stretch that begins Monday at 11:30am. The Lyons will battle Clarkson University in a neutral site game in West Palm Beach, Fla., before facing UMass-Dartmouth on Thursday at 11:30am. MHC returns home on Saturday to open its NEWMAC schedule against Wheaton College at 12pm on the turf field. Live stats for Saturday's game can be found HERE.
MHC (6-7) returns to action on Saturday, March 29 when it faces Colby-Sawyer in a neutral site match to be held at Smith College (10:30am).
