Cross country places in top half of teams at Keene State Invitational

KEENE, N.H. -- The Mount Holyoke College cross country team placed in the top half of competing teams Saturday at the Keene State Invitational, taking 12th place out of 26 squads.

Mount Holyoke scored 383 points at the meet, six ahead of 13th-place Plattsburgh State and 25 points behind 11th-place Salve Regina.

Senior Sarah West (Concord, N.H.) led the Lyons as the 66th scoring runner and the 98th finisher among 300 competitors, after completing the 6-kilometer course in 24:44.0.

All four of Mount Holyoke's four remaining scorers weren't far behind. Junior captain Anita Konopka (Rolling Meadows, Ill.) was 103rd overall (24:50.8), sophomore Sachi Robinson (Staten Island, N.Y.) was 111th (24:59.2), senior captain Katie Earle (East Kingston, N.H.) was 122nd (25:14.2), and first-year Nina Kuzichev (Washington, D.C.) was 125th (25:19.6). The Lyons' scoring displacers were sophomore Bridget Hughes (Easton, Mass.) in 207th (27:23.4) and first-year Elodie Muller (Byfield, Mass.) in 210th (27:29.2).

Mount Holyoke will race at the massive Connecticut College Invitational on Oct. 18, starting at 11am at Harkness State Park in Waterford, Conn.
