Rimando named Second Team All-NEWMAC in volleyball

MARLBOROUGH, Mass. -- Mount Holyoke senior Elle Rimando was named Second Team All-NEWMAC, becoming the Lyons' first all-conference selection since 2006, as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference released its postseason awards for women's volleyball on Tuesday.

Rimando (Mililani, Hawaii) broke a 19-year drought in All-NEWMAC selections for the Lyons -- their first since Emily Groth was named Second Team in 2006. Conference coaches making their votes doubtlessly took note of Rimando's impact on a successful season for Mount Holyoke, and the fact that she led the conference in both kills and points per set, both overall and in conference play.

With 4.06 kills and 4.73 points per set overall, Rimando ranked among the top attackers in Division III, and 19th in DIII in points per set. Her 414 kills on the season -- more than double any previous season -- were only four shy of Groth's team record set in 2006.

Rimando played a new role in 2025 as a right-side hitter, after serving as the Lyons' starting middle hitter in her first three seasons. As a result, Rimando pounded more than twice as many kills as in any other season, and also set career highs of 1.81 digs and 0.52 aces per set. she was twice named the NEWMAC Offensive Athlete of the Week.

Forming a formidable attacking duo with fellow senior Madeline Barton (Brookfield, Wis.), who set Mount Holyoke's career kills record in 2025 while ranking second to Rimando in the conference in both kills and points, Rimando helped the Lyons reach the NEWMAC playoffs for the first time since 2006 and with their most victories (15) since 1994.

Rimando is also a track and field star, a two-time NCAA All-Region selection in the triple jump. The architectural studies major is a multiple-time CSC Academic All-District and NEWMAC All-Academic honoree.
