POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Senior Madeline Barton had 14 kills and senior Elle Rimando had 12 kills with zero attack errors as the Mount Holyoke College volleyball team trounced SUNY Delhi 3-0 (25-19, 25-14, 25-11) on Saturday at Vassar College.
Bolstered by Rimando's (Mililani, Hawaii) .600 success rate, the Lyons (5-3) attacked at a season-best .309 percentage and limited the Broncos (0-9) to .051.
Junior Kyra Staples (Chatham, Ill.) had a match-high 13 digs and six service aces to go with seven assists. Senior Sadie Duffrin (Minneapolis, Minn.) posted a double-double with 28 assists and 11 digs, and Barton (Brookfield, Wis.) also double-doubled with 10 digs in the match.
First-year Elanni Romero (Nashua, N.H.) had eight kills on 17 swings (.353) and sophomore Olivia Murray (Miami, Fla.) added six kills for the Lyons.
Kayla Nuss led SUNY Delhi with four kills.
Both of Mount Holyoke's wins in its 2-1 weekend at Vassar came against first-time opponents.
The Lyons will next host UMass Boston in the grand opening match of the renovated Mildred S. Howard Gymnasium, on Wednesday at 7pm.
