Volleyball serves up dominant victory over Northern Vermont-Lyndon

WATERVILLE, Maine -- The Mount Holyoke College volleyball team served up 27 aces en route to a speedy 3-0 victory over Northern Vermont University-Lyndon on Friday night, in the Lyons' first of three matches being played this weekend at Colby College.

Mount Holyoke (2-2) dominated each set, winning 25-4, 25-4 and 25-10 to wrap up the match in 50 minutes.

First-year Sadie Duffrin (Minneapolis, Minn.) and senior McKenna Crosby (Jonesborough, Tenn.) tallied six aces apiece, with Crosby adding four kills to account for a team-high 10 points. Duffrin also contributed four digs and four assists.

First-year outside hitter Madeline Barton (Brookfield, Wis.) totaled a team-high six kills to go with three aces and four digs. Sophomore libero Lucie Berclaz (Hull, Mass.) posted a match-high 11 digs, and senior Marion Abeja (Kumi, Uganda) led the Lyons with eight assists.

The Hornets (0-5) did not record a kill until the third set, and attacked at a -.220 clip for the match, compared to Mount Holyoke's .206 figure.

The Lyons stay in Waterville, Maine, to play host Colby on Saturday at 10am, followed by a match against Cazenovia at 12pm.
