South Hadley, Mass. - November 15, 2019 - Senior Sasha Simine (Kitchener, Ont.) of the Mount Holyoke College volleyball team was honored for her success both on the court and in the classroom, as the middle blocker earned Academic All-District honors, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), and announced by the organization on Thursday evening.

Simine, a Biology major who currently holds a grade-point average of 3.91, is now eligible to earn CoSIDA Academic All-America® honors, which will be voted on later this fall. This marks the second time in her four-year career at Mount Holyoke College that Simine has been recognized for her athletic and academic prowess on the regional scale, as the Kitchener, Ont. native earned CoSIDA Academic All-District honors following the 2017 season.

Simine concluded her collegiate volleyball career in impressive fashion, as the senior will graduate from Mount Holyoke College as one of the best middle blockers to ever pass through the program. Following the 2019 season, Simine broke the single-season hitting percentage program record of .373, which surpassed the previous record of .328 which was set by Simine in 2017. Simine also finished with a career hitting percentage of .329, which broke the previous record of .213, which was set by Stephanie Frase, who played from 2001-2004. Finishing her career with 704 kills, Simine is now No. 3 all time in kills over the course of a career.

With 54 blocks during the 2019 season, Simine pushed her career total to 235, passing the previous program-best mark of 217, set by Jamesa Allen from 2015-2018. Simine will also leave the Mount Holyoke College volleyball program No. 2 all time in solo blocks (71), and as the all-time leader in block assists (164) and blocks per set (0.78).
