Track & Field Competes at the Tufts Snowflake Classic

MEDFORD, Mass. – The Mount Holyoke College track and field team had a number of solid performances today at the Tufts Snowflake Classic. Highlighting the days performance was the Lyons 4x100 relay team with the top finish of the day.

Comprised of sophomore Charleen Theroux (Conventry, R.I./Coventry) and first years Isabelle Wohlin (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley HS), Ireland Clare Kennedy (Oakland, Calif./Holy Names), and Tamara Mukulu (Nairobi, Kenya/Brookhouse International), the foursome finished in a time of 52.24 for eighth overall. Wohlin went on to place 18th in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.48, while Mukulu had a strong 200m race, finishing 13th in a time of 27.43.

Theroux had a strong performance in the 100m hurdles, opening with a time of 17.02 in the preliminaries to finish 18th of 41 competitors. Advancing to the finals, she then posted eighth overall with a time of 17.13. In addition to her performances on the track, Theroux went on to compete in the long jump, finishing eighth overall out of 43 competitors with a mark of 4.96 meters (16-03.25).

In the 3,000m steeplechase, junior Emma Raney finished in 10th overall with a time of 12.28.57, while classmate Julia Hecking (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) was also 10th in the hammer throw with a distance of 37.64 (123-06).

Mount Holyoke will be back in action next Saturday at the Smith College Invitational at 11:00am.
