Huang Collects UTR ITA National Tennis Player of the Week Honors

Tempe, Ariz. - February 26, 2020 - After an impressive performance this past weekend versus Vassar College, Mount Holyoke College's Ching-Ching Huang (Lukang Township, Taiwan) was named the UTR/ITA National Player of the Week, announced on Tuesday evening.

Playing at the top spot in singles play on Saturday, Huang knocked off Miriam Gandham at the No. 1 spot, 6-3, 6-3. Coming into the match, Gandham was ranked No. 12 in all of Division III women's tennis, as well as No. 6 in the Northeast Region. 

The UTR/ITA National Player of the Month/Week awards program honor male and female individuals from all five divisions (NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and Junior College) beginning with monthly awards in the fall (September, October, November) and moving to a weekly award during the spring dual-match season. A player's current Universal Tennis Rating Powered by Oracle and ITA ranking and that of his or her opponents will be part of the criteria used in the selection of the winners. 

Huang and the Lyons will return to action on Saturday, February 29 as Mount Holyoke College hosts Bates College at 1 p.m. in the MHC Field House.
