SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- First-year goalkeeper Clarissa Govea had 13 saves, her fourth game this season in double digits, but the Mount Holyoke College soccer team fell 4-0 to a strong host side in Western New England University in non-league action on Wednesday afternoon.

Gabby Sansone scored first for the Golden Bears (5-3-1) in the 29th minute, and she bookended the scoring with the hosts' final goal in the 70th minute. Alison VanVolkenburg and Samantha Vitka also scored for WNE, with VanVolkenburg's goal coming on a penalty kick in the 43rd minute. WNE outshot Mount Holyoke by a 29-3 margin and enjoyed a 13-1 difference in corner kicks.

Senior Lo Jean-Jacques (Miami Beach, Fla.) tried to give the Lyons the lead with a shot in the 13th minute that sailed over the crossbar.

Govea (Pico Rivera, Calif.) made nine of her 13 saves in the first half, as WNE attempted 15 shots in the half and scored twice.

Mount Holyoke got its first shot on goal in the 80th minute, when sophomore Juddy Nam (Fort Lee, N.J.) sent an arching shot towards net that Carina Joslin saved. First-year Ada Siepmann (Vlotho, Germany) also sent a shot towards Joslin, but Joslin preserved the shutout with the save.

The Lyons (1-7) will return to NEWMAC play with a home game Saturday against Emerson, starting at 1pm.
