BOSTON -- Sabanna Berrios led four players in double figures with 14 points and eight rebounds as UMass-Boston defeated the visiting Mount Holyoke College basketball team 64-31 Wednesday night in the Clark Athletic Center.

UMass-Boston (2-0) shot .424 on its home floor and had 19 offensive rebounds for a 42-27 overall advantage on the glass. The Beacons were 10-16 overall last season and 7-9 in Little East play.

The host Beacons never trailed and held the visiting Lyons (0-2) to a .208 team field goal percentage (10-48), after Mount Holyoke had one of its best shooting days in recent years at .483 in its season opener on Sunday at Sarah Lawrence.

One factor that did carry over from the first game to the second for Mount Holyoke was the interior presence of junior Sofia Francisco (Boston, Mass.), who had 12 points and 12 rebounds (7 offensive) as well as three blocked shots. Francisco averages 12.0 points, 14.0 rebounds and 4.0 blocks per game.

Senior guard Alex Twomey (Nutley, N.J.) added nine points, five rebounds and four steals for Mount Holyoke.

Madison Haggett shot 4-6 from three-point territory to score 12 points for the Beacons. Tatiannah Fevry had 11 points and five steals, and Ashleigh Lagor contributed 10 points, three assists and four steals.

The Lyons travel to SUNY Plattsburgh this weekend to play Plattsburgh Friday at 5:30pm and SUNY Potsdam on Saturday at 3pm.
