Springfield College got on the board first when Taylor Hall (Tolland, Conn.) made a lay-up, got fouled, and converted the three-point play, but the basket was quickly answered by a lay-up from Brooks to get the Lyons on the board. Springfield would go on to take a 12-2 lead before Hayward canned a three at the 4:40 mark to pull Mount Holyoke back to within seven. Kyra Sanborn-Burch (Tariffville, Conn.) hit two free throws with 42 seconds remaining to give the Lyons seven prior to the end of the frame.

The Lyons added to their point total with 5:05 remaining in the third quarter as Hayward converted another lay-up, before Brooks made a lay-up of her own with 8:45 left in the fourth frame.
