NASHUA, N.H. -- The Mount Holyoke College field hockey team won its third straight game Tuesday night at Rivier University, defeating the host Raiders 3-1 as sophomore MJ Owens continued her scoring streak with two goals.

Owens (Fairfield, Conn.) named NEWMAC Offensive Player of the Week yesterday, notched her seventh and eighth goals in the past three games to give the Lyons (7-10) a 2-0 lead. Junior Emily Bisson (Manchester, N.H.) added a score in the first minute of the fourth quarter before the Raiders (5-13) got on the scoreboard with 13:18 left in the game.

Owens now has 14 goals on the season, the most by a Lyons player since Diana Banmann scored 32 goals in 2013.

Owens struck first early in the second quarter, winning a battle with the Rivier defense to knock in the rebound of a save. She scored her 14th goal midway through the third quarter, collecting a loose ball on the right side of the circle and tapping it to herself on the left side before slotting a backhand shot inside the left post.

Bisson scored her fourth goal of the season shortly after the start of the fourth quarter, knocking in a clean look after an entry ball glanced off a Rivier defender.

Mount Holyoke outshot Rivier 11-7, while the hosts had a 6-4 edge in penalty corners.

Senior Ainsley Gruener (Topsfield, Mass.) made four saves to earn the victory in goal for the Lyons.

Mount Holyoke will host Salve Regina in the season finale Saturday at 12pm.
