MARLBOROUGH, Mass. -- Mount Holyoke sophomore MJ Owens received NEWMAC Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week honors on Monday, after netting six goals in the Lyons' last two games.
Owens (Fairfield, Conn.) notched back-to-back hat tricks in a span of less than 48 hours, scoring three goals in Thursday's 5-1 win over Regis and then potting three more goals in Saturday's 5-1 win over Clark.
Owens is up to 12 goals on the season, the second-most scored by a Lyon in the past 12 seasons, trailing only Sophia Guziewicz's 13 goals in 2024. She is Mount Holyoke's first NEWMAC Player of the Week awardee since Anna Induni in 2022.
Owens and the Lyons play their last road game Tuesday at Rivier at 6pm, then their final game Saturday at home at 12pm against Salve Regina.
