MIDDLETOWN, Conn.  (Sept. 25)  --- Wesleyan got first-half goals from sophomore Amber Bruckner and junior Blair Ingraham to gain control of the scoreboard, then played Mount Holyoke even on the scoreboard in the second half with each team scoring once as the Cardinals extended their control of the series against the Lyons to 26-6-2 all-time with a 3-1 win.  Wesleyan is back in action Sat., Sept. 29 hosting NESCAC rival Middlebury while Mount Holyoke takes on Wheaton in a NEWMAC battle at home Saturday as well.

Wesleyan got on the board 7:36 into the contest when Bruckner netted her first goal of the season after receiving a pass from down low on the left from senior Ashley McLaren.  Bruckner then pushed a shot through a bit of a crowd and the ball found its way into the net for the 1-0 edge.  With 8:43 left in the half, a strong individual effort by Ingraham, who got possession 40 yards from the net and raced over the left side to beat Lyon senior keeper Anne O'Byrne to her left, accounted for a 2-0 advantage.  It was the first goal of the season for Ingraham.

Wesleyan upped the margin to 3-0 on a rebound goal by Bruckner, giving her a two-goal game, after a pair of shots by senior Taryn Murray were stopped in front by O'Byrne with 21:13 left in the game.  Mount Holyoke averted a shutout when sophomore Kirsten Kilburn blasted home her seventh goal of the season from just inside the scoring circle on a penalty corner feed from senior Angelica Pascual with 12:23 remaining.

O'Byrne finished the game with 11 stops for Mount Holyoke while Wesleyan goalie senior Tori Redding picked up eight saves.
