LEXINGTON, Ky. - It was another solid day of action for the Mount Holyoke College riding team, which saw two riders in the Collegiate Cup earn points, after day two at the 2017 IHSA National Championships. Friday's competition, hosted at the Kentucky Horse Park, saw the Lyons maintain their spot in the standings at 10th overall.

The day opened on a solid note as junior Maddy Skrak (Albuquerque, N.M./Sandia Prep) got things going in Collegiate Cup Intermediate Over Fences. Skrak had a strong opening ride and ended up placing ninth overall.

In Collegiate Cup Walk-Trot Equitation on the Flat, first year Honami Tanaka (Fukuoka City, Japan/Chikushi Jogakuen Senior) posted the strongest effort of the day, gaining valuable points for Mount Holyoke with a sixth-place finish.

The Collegiate Cup Walk-Trot-Canter Equitation, which was won last year by MHC's own Sabrina Fox, saw rookie Sarah Etzel (Northampton, Mass./Northampton) in action. Despite a solid effort, she finished just outside the ribbons with an Honorable Mention.

Also in action today was senior captain Bridget Finnerty (Baltimore, Md./Bryn Mawr School), who competed in the USEF/Cacchione Cup. She took part in both the fences and flat phases. Additional work-off's for this year's honor will occur tomorrow.

Finally, the Lyons also saw senior Emily Hermance (Scituate, Mass.) compete from the MHC Western Riding team. Hermance competed in the AQHA Novice Western Horsemanship class, finishing just outside the awards with Honorable Mention.

The Lyons will conclude the hunt seat team action at this year's Nationals on Saturday beginning at 8am. Fans can follow the Lyons via live video at http://eqsports.net/. Note that the link is a pay-per-view video service. Live results are also available HERE.
