KEENE, N.H. -- The Mount Holyoke College cross country team placed sixth among 23 teams at the Keene State Invitational on Saturday, with a strong team performance led by senior Kim Beaver.
With 180 points, Mount Holyoke was just outside of the top five teams -- Williams, Keene State, Wellesley, Westfield State, and Tufts. Rounding out the top 10 teams after the Lyons were Babson, Saint Anselm, UMass-Dartmouth and Endicott.
Beaver (Agawam, Mass.) led the Lyons with a 31st-place finish among 260 individuals, and 23rd in team scoring. Beaver ran the 5-kilometer course in 19:11.9, a 6:11.6 pace. Senior Elizabeth Gerbi (Orono, Maine) ran second for Mount Holyoke, placing 36th overall and 28th in team scoring with a time of 19:21.5.
Senior Tessa Lancaster (Mansfield, Mass.) saw her lengthy streak as Mount Holyoke's first finisher come to an end, though Lancaster placed 39th overall, 31st in team scoring, and third for the Lyons in a time of 19:23.2.
Senior Greta Trapp (La Crosse, Wis.) placed 49th overall and 39th in team scoring in 19:42.4, and sophomore Anjali Phadnis (San Marcos, Calif.) placed 75th overall, 59th in team scoring and ran as the Lyons' fifth finisher in 20:21.3.
Mount Holyoke's sixth and seventh runners were sophomore Dalia Luckhardt (Cerritos, Calif.) in 84th (20:38.6) and first-year Megan Gerbi (Orono, Maine) in 96th (20:58.1).
The Lyons will run at the Connecticut College Invitational on Oct. 19, a large meet held at Harkness State Park in Waterford, Conn., with races at 10am and 12pm.
