Selkin Collects NEWMAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week Honors

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. -- Senior Lauren Selkin (Greenwich, Conn.) of the Mount Holyoke College cross country team was recognized for her impressive performance this past weekend at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational as she was named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week, announced by the league on Monday.

The senior had an impressive showing at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational taking first overall out of 285 finishers in the Women's Varsity 5k, clocking in a time of 17:49.3 by averaging a pace of 5:44.1 per mile. Selkin helped lead Mount Holyoke to a tenth-place team finish out of 38 teams in the varsity race. This is Selkin's second-straight individual victory this season and fourth first-place finish for cross country. 

Selkin and the Lyons return to action on Saturday, October 1 when they travel to Williamstown, Mass. for the Purple Valley Classic. The race is set to begin at 12 p.m.
