Brunswick, Maine - November 16, 2019 - Competing among the region's top competition, the Mount Holyoke College cross country team finished seventh overall out of 54 teams taking part in the NCAA Division III New England Regional Championship, hosted by Bowdoin College on Saturday.

The Lyons' seventh-place finish in the region is the best in program history for Mount Holyoke College at the NCAA Division III New England Regional Championship.

Out of 388 runners taking on the 6k course, the Lyons were led by the duo of Madeline Rieders (Wellesley, Mass.) and Hannah Rieders (Wellesley, Mass.), who finished 17th and 19th, respectively, earning All-Region honors. Student-athletes finishing in the Top 35 earned All-Region status. The Rieders are the first student-athletes from the Mount Holyoke College cross country team to earn All-Region accolades since Christine Klepacki did so following the 2005 season. This marks the first time in program history that multiple student-athletes have earned All-Region honors for the Lyons.

Madeline Rieders crossed the finish line in 22:00.3, as Hannah Rieders followed with a time of 22:01.8 en route to a pair of All-Region finishes. Next for the Lyons was Simone Jacob (San Francisco, Calif.), who took 61st with a personal-best time of 22:55.9, while first-year Lauren Selkin (Greenwich, Conn.) was just behind, crossing the finish line in 22:57.9, good for 64th.

Rounding out Mount Holyoke College's top seven runners was first-year Olivia Griesmer (Austin, Texas), who turned in a time of 23:38.3, as she was followed by Sarah Hyde (Arlington, Mass.), who posted a mark career-best of 23:55.7. Sydney Nash (New Hartford, Conn.) rounded out the group and finished with a personal-best time of 24:12.1 on the 6k course.
