SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Paced by a match-high 12 kills from Jen Donnelly, the Springfield College volleyball team posted a 3-0 (25-14, 25-6, 25-15) victory over Mount Holyoke College in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action on Tuesday evening. With the win, the Pride move to 18-2 and remain a perfect 7-0 in conference play, while the Lyons are now 6-10 with an 0-7 NEWMAC record.

In addition to Donnelly, who also had four digs and two service aces, Springfield saw Hayley Kmetz record eight kills with five digs and three block assists. Briana Tovar chipped in with a match-high 10 digs, while Bridget Walsh also had three block assists. Kayley Cimino notched a match-best 20 assists.

For the Lyons, junior Sasha Simine recorded five kills with no errors on 10 swings for a .500 hitting percentage. She also had a block assist. Sophomore Brayden Walden had a team-high eight assists and six digs, while senior captain Sarah Caggiano added four kills with a service ace.

Springfield jumped out quickly in each of the first two sets, building leads that the visiting Lyons could not catch up to. In the third set, the Lyons openedup a 4-2 lead behind a pair of kills from Simine. The Pride quickly bounced back as a service error by MHC tied frame at 5-all. A four-point swing built up the lead for the home team, but the Lyons clawed back in, facing an 11-10 deficit following kills from senior captain Jamesa Allen and rookie Sarah Bishop.

Despite the momentum, Springfield caught hold of a 5-0 run to build a lead the Mount Holyoke would not be able to gain back.

Mount Holyoke returns to action this weekend when it hosts Baruch College (10am) and the University of Southern Maine (2pm) in tri-match action at the Mildred S. Howard Gymnasium on Saturday. The Pride is also in action on Saturday, traveling to UMass-Boston for matches against the host Beacons (11am) and Endicott (1pm).
