Volleyball Suffers First Loss at MCLA

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - MCLA's Allison Clark tallied a match best 21 digs in leading the Trailblazers volleyball program past previously unbeaten Mount Holyoke, 3-0 this evening in non-conference action.  With the win, the Trailblazers even their early season mark at 3-3.  The Lyons slip to 3-1.

MCLA took the first set 25-23.  They then won 25-20, and were leading comfortably in the third set until the Lyons came storming back.  MCLA led 18-13 early, but the Lyons rattled off six straight points prompting a timeout for the home team.  The Trailblazers responded by scoring the next three and ultimately put away the Lyons on another Clark kill to win the final set, 25-23.

MCLA overcame ten attack errors in the final game to pull out the victory.

Clark tallied her 21 kills on 40 attacks.  She also collected 7 digs and three block assists. Courtney Parent added 7 kills, but had a team best 14 assists.  She also ended with 11 digs. Chanielle Enomoto was stout defensively notching a team high 17 digs.

For the Lyons, they were paced by Emma Sweeting's team high 13 kills on 32 attacks.  She added 11 digs for the double-double.  Joy Maran added 10 digs while Sara Robicheau finished with 10 as well.

The Trailblazers will look to get above .500 for the first time this season when they travel to Castleton on Saturday afternoon. MHC is back in action on Saturday in tri-match action at the Mildred S. Howard Gymnasium. The Lyons play Anna Maria (11am) and UMass-Dartmouth (3pm).
