With third year head coach Sonnie Terrell leading the way, the Mount Holyoke volleyball team recorded an overall record or 9-16 in 2010. The rebuilding Lyons more than doubled their win total from the previous season and captured the NEWMAC Sportsmanship Award for the fourth year in a row.

Kateryna Kuc Mount Holyoke exploded out of the gate, topping Bay Path College, St, Joseph College and Daniel Webster College. After dropping four straight, the Lyons rebounded with consecutive wins over Elms College and Castleton State College. They later defeated the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts and Becker College.

In late October, Mount Holyoke hosted the annual Hall of Fame Women's Invitational. First year Martina Kneifel was named to the All-Tournament Team after guiding her team to a 14th place finish. The Lyons defeated Gordon College 3-0 in their second match of the weekend.

They then closed out their season in style, topping Babson College 3-0. With the win, they snapped a 33 match losing streak in league play.

Kneifel made an immediate impact on the program, racking up six double-doubles in 24 matches played. Her 2.70 kills per set and 34 service aces were both good for tops on the squad. The outside hitter also delivered 3.04 digs per set. Kneifel was named NEWMAC Player of the Week on September 13.

Mount Holyoke also received solid production from senior setter Kateryna Kuc, who dished out 6.26 assists per set to go with 23 aces. Sophomore outside hitters Kathryn Brummer and Morgan Cooley chipped in with 1.78 and 1.24 kills per set, respectively. Meanwhile, senior defensive specialist Rosa Marruffo collected a team high 3.79 digs per set. Middle hitters Kristina Weld and Tyler Protano-Goodwin registered 37 blocks apiece.
