Led by second year head coach Sonnie Terrell, the Mount Holyoke volleyball team registered an overall record of 4-22 in 2009. The rebuilding Lyons went winless in league play. They captured the NEWMAC Sportsmanship Award for the third year in a row.
The Mount Holyoke College Department of Athletics hosted its annual awards celebration this evening in Chapin Auditorium. Individuals from all 14 varsity teams were honored. Squash Head Coach Allen Fitzsimmons served as the events emcee. Soccer team member Lauren Orr earned the prestigious Alumnae Association Scholar-Athlete Award.
Prior to the annual athletics awards celebration this evening, 17 Mount Holyoke seniors representing 11 teams were honored as part of the College's second annual Scholar Athlete Reception. Award winning documentary filmmaker and well known motivational speaker Jenny Mackenzie will be visiting Mount Holyoke College on Tuesday, February 2 at 6:30 p.m. to present her new film entitled "Kick Like A Girl." The NEWMAC recently announced its 2009 Fall Academic All-Conference Teams. Twenty-one Mount Holyoke College student-athletes were recognized for their achievements in their respective sports as well as in the classroom. Academic All-Conference Teams were selected for the sports of cross country, field hockey, soccer, tennis and volleyball.
The New England Womens and Mens Athletic Conference recently announced its womens volleyball award winners for the 2009 season. Mount Holyoke College earned its third consecutive NEWMAC Sportsmanship Award.
The Mount Holyoke volleyball team fell 3-0 to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in its 2009 season finale this afternoon at the Rockwell Cage. Leading the way for the Lyons was sophomore setter Kateryna Kuc, who posted four kills and four assists.

The Mount Holyoke volleyball team split a pair of matches at St. Joseph today. After falling 3-2 to the host Blue Jays, the Lyons rebounded with a 3-0 triumph over Becker.
