WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - It was another outstanding day for the Mount Holyoke College outdoor track & field team as select individuals concluded the 2019 New England Division III Championships, hosted by Williams College. The Lyons placed 23rd of 34 teams, backed by strong performances in the 5000-meters and the 4x800 relay.

Leading off the day was the sophomore sibling duo of Hannah Rieders and Madeline Rieders as they competed in the 5000-meter run. In the field of 15 runners, Hannah crossed the line in fifth with a time of 18:00.20. Her sister, Madeline was less than a second behind, finishing sixth with a time of 18:00.27. Both shattered their previous seeded time in the event as Hannah came in with a seed time of 18:31.90, while Madeline was 18:27.29. Not only were their efforts personal records, but both marks also eclipsed the previous Mount Holyoke school record of 18:05.30 - set 15 years ago by Johanna Thomas in 2004.

The final event of the day for MHC was the 4x800-meter relay, which saw first year Sydney Nash, seniors Emsie Cronin and Corrin Moss, along with sophomore Simone Jacob in action. The Lyons crossed the line in sixth overall with a mark of 9:36.35 (Nash ran a 2:23.95, Cronin had a mark of 2:31.21, Moss posted a time of 2:19.23, while Jacob finished up with a time of 2:21.96).That time bested the foursome's seeded time heading into the meet of 9:44.48 - nearly 10 seconds faster.

Mount Holyoke will see qualified individuals return to action next Friday and Saturday at the 2019 Open New England Championships, hosted at Southern Connecticut State University.
