SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – For the second straight season, the Mount Holyoke College track and field team garnered All-Academic Team status by the United States Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). The Lyons posted the 12th-best grade point average among all Division III programs (men or women), following a 2017 season in which they owned the third-best GPA in the nation among their D3 peers.

MHC was one of 292 total teams recognized with All-Academic honors, and one of 185 women's programs to earn the accolade. The Lyons owned a cumulative GPA of 3.63 for the 2017-18 academic year. Among its NEWMAC-rivals, Mount Holyoke was third out of 11 total teams (men and women) that were recognized to rank 12th-overall. MHC bested the WPI women (3.57) and men (3.40), Wellesley (3.28), the Babson women (3.19) and men (3.15), along with the Springfield women (3.18) and men (3.12)

The Lyons also saw rising junior Charleen Theroux (Coventry, R.I./Coventry) garner USTFCCCA All-Academic Individual honors. She had an outstanding indoor season competing in the Pentathlon, while achieving school records twice throughout the year.

Overall, MHC had a number of strong performances during the 2017-18 season under the direction of head coach Tina Lee. Rising sophomore Isabelle Wohlin (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley) posted a time of 9.41 in the 60-meter hurdles at the Smith Meet. That effort not only saw her finish second overall, but also top the school record and qualify her for the New England Division III Championships.

As a team, the Lyons saw six student-athletes earn NEWMAC Academic All-Conference Team recognition.
