Track & Field Posts Strong Effort at Wesleyan Invitational

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - The Mount Holyoke College track & field team was in action on Saturday, competing at the 2018 Wesleyan Invitational at the Bacon Field House. The Lyons saw a number of solid efforts at the non-team scoring event, including five finishes in the top 10.

In the 800-meter event, rookie Simone Jacob was 10th overall, crossing the line with a mark of 2:33.05, while in the 1,000m, sophomore Emma Raney placed 18th overall in a time of 3:27.98. Junior Emsie Cronin was close behind in 23rd with a time of 3:32.58.

Raney went on to place sixth in the 1-mile run, powering across the finish with a time of 5:39.68, while Jacob was 11th with a mark of 5:40.66. In the 5,000-meter run, sophomore Michelle Serrano was ninth with a mark of 20:28.45, followed by classmates Brigit Wolf (21:25.41) and Kayla Dillon (21:28.95) in 10th and 11th, respectively.

The 60-meter hurdles saw first year Isabelle Wohlin take fifth overall with a mark of 9.85, while the field events saw junior Julia Hecking take 16th with a distance of 11.33 meters (37' 2.25).

Mount Holyoke is back in action next Saturday when it heads to Cambridge, Mass., taking part in the Gordon Kelly Invitational at MIT.
