Theroux Shines At Tufts Cupid Challenge Pentathlon

Medford, Mass - Mount Holyoke track and field was represented by sophomore Charleen Theroux on Friday at the Tufts Cupid Challenge Pentathlon. Thereoux had an outstanding second place performance with an overall score of 3,020.

Her day began in the 60-meter hurdles where she placed second with a season-high time of 9.65 seconds. Action then moved to the high jump where she finished in a four way tie for first place at a height of 1.45m. Next Theroux (Coventry, R.I./Coventry) competed in the shot put event, securing 475 points with a throw of 9.16m for a third-place tie.

The Rhode Island native once again locked down a third-place finish in the long jump with a distance of 5.07m, her longest leap of the year. Finally, she finished the evening in the 800m dash with a time of 2:35.76, good for fourth place. Overall, Theroux only trailed Division I sophomore Natasha Feshbach (Santa Barbara, Calif./Santa Barbara High School) of Yale, who finished with 3322 points, while defeating conference foe Abby McAdams (Montville, Conn./Montville) of WPI, who had 2,866 points.

Mount Holyoke is back in action tomorrow at the Wesleyan Invitational at 10:00am.
