Track & Field's Coach Lee Experiences the U.S. Olympic Trials

EUGENE, Ore. - Mount Holyoke College track & field coach Tina Lee was selected as one of just four recipients of the Coaching Mentorship Grant through USA Track & Field. The grant affords her the unique opportunity to attend the first portion of the 2016 U.S. Olympic Team Track & Field Trials, which are being held at historic Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon from July 1-10.

The grant in further detail is a unique mentorship program, which will provide an up close and personal experiences of the strategies, meet prep, mental preparation and "in the moment" coaching for an emerging elite coach in a chosen event. The grant recipient will shadow one of the USATF's Master coaches through the rounds and final of a chosen event.

Coach Lee, along with Dr. Chris Buckler (Head XC/TF Coach at Fontbonne) and head coach Carl Bickle (Ursinus), will shadow various coaches throughout their time at the Trials from July 1-5. For Lee, she will shadow 'Master Coach' Darryl Woodson, who is coaching at number of athletes at this year's Olympic Trials, including several that Lee will get first-hand experience with.

Among Coach Woodson's athletes are Natasha Hastings, who has the 8th fastest seed time going into the meet in the 400-meter dash, as well as Mike Rodgers. He currently owns the third fastest time in the 100-meter dash.
