Track & Field Competes at Gordon Kelly Invitational at MIT

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Mount Holyoke College track & field team was in action on Saturday, competing at the Gordon Kelly Invitational, hosted by MIT. The Lyons saw a number of solid efforts at the non-scoring meet, paced by a fourth-place finish in the 1000-meters by sophomore Caroline Black.

Black crossed the finish line in a time of 3:51.77 to place fourth. Sophomore Hannah Gershone was sixth in the 3,000-meters with a time of 11:21.98, while classmate Mia Barnes ran to 10th overall in the 5000-meters with a time of 19:56.73.

First year Corrin Moss was ninth in the mile with a time of 5:47.54, while classmate Emsie Cronin was 13th in the same event with a time of 5:53.43. Moss also placed 14th in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:41.27.

In the sprints, first year Ally Stoll was seventh in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.82, while also placing 17th in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.63. Sophomore Maria Lewis was 12th in the 400-meters with a time of 1:09.10 and also placed 16th in the 200-meters with a time of 29.26.

Rounding out the solid efforts was first year Donari Yahzid, who was 15th overall in the long jump with a mark of 4.83 meters (15' 10.25"),

The Lyons return to action next weekend when qualified individuals compete at the 2015 Division III New England Championships, hosted by Middlebury College. Action begins on Friday and continues through Saturday.
