Lyons Game Day Central: Tennis vs. Bates College at 10am

THE MATCHUP:  Mount Holyoke opens up its spring home slate against the Bobcats of Bates College for the 21st matchup in program history. The series dates back to 1995 where the Lyons defeated the Bobcats, 8-1, but Bates currently owns a 4-16 all-time advantage. 

THE LYONS: Mount Holyoke (3-3) comes into the match with the momentum of a two game win streak after the Seven Sisters Championship tournament last Saturday. The Lyons defeated both Bryn Mawr College and Smith College, 4-1 to lock down a third place finish. In the match against the Owls, juniors Madison Rosen and Joy Maran earned the match-winning victory with an 8-0 victory in doubles, while senior captain Ishita Tibrewal and sophomore Ching-Ching Huang secured the match win against Smith College in 8-0 fashion. Earning All-Seven Sisters honors was senior Clara Wang and sophomore Catherine Peabody.

THE BOBCATS: Bates (2-1) visits South Hadley after an 8-1 victory over Cal Lutheran on Saturday. The Bobcats got out to a 3-0 lead with convincing wins in doubles action before senior captain Maisie Silverman secured the victory at the top of the singles lineup with a 6-2, 6-2 win. Prior to the match against MHC on Saturday, Bates will compete against Smith College on Friday.

NEXT UP: Mount Holyoke will have almost two weeks off before heading to Orlando for a trio of matches against Colby-Sawyer College (3/13), Texas-Tyler (3/14), and Haverford College (3/15). Bates will head to the DMV during spring break to face Case Western Reserve (3/16), Swarthmore (3/17), and Washington and Lee (3/18).
