NEW LONDON, Conn. - Despite a strong effort in doubles, the Mount Holyoke College tennis team was unable to battle back, falling 8-1 to Connecticut College in action on Sunday. The Camels move to 7-2 on the season, while the Lyons slip to 10-7 overall.

Mount Holyoke's first flight pair grabbed the visitors lone point in the match as first year Ayame Yazawa and senior captain Margaux Holloschutz battled to an 8-4 win over Camels' senior captain Charlotte Marcoux and sophomore Aleksandra Drljaca.

The Camels countered in the second flight as sophomore Angleica Warren and first year Emily Migliorini posted an 8-0 win over MHC sophomore Ishita Tibrewal and first year Madison Rosen. CC also edged out victory in the third flight as first years Mariah Warren and Brinley Bartlett defeated junior Amy Chen and rookie Clara Wang, 8-6.

In the singles actions, the home team held strong, sweeping each flight. Drljaca bested Yazawa, 6-2, 6-3 at one, while Migliorini defeated Holloschutz, 6-4, 6-0 at two. Third flight saw Marcoux post a 6-3, 6-0 win against Tibrewal, followed by Angelica Warren with a 6-4, 6-1 victory against Wang at four.

Junior Susanna Studwell powered her way to a 6-1, 6-4 victory against MHC senior captain Michelle Cai at five, while Mariah Warren had a 6-2, 6-4 win against Chen in the final flight.

Connecticut College is right back in action at 3pm on Sunday against Smith, while Mount Holyoke returns to the courts next weekend at the 2016 Seven Sisters Championship, hosted by Vassar. Action begins for the Lyons on Saturday at 11am against Wellesley.
