Swimming & Diving Finishes Strong at Hamilton Invitational

CLINTON, N.Y. - The Mount Holyoke College swimming and diving team wrapped up its weeked action on Saturday, closing out competition at the 2018 Hamilton College Invitational. The Lyons compiled 740 points and were paced by a number of strong efforts.

Action opened on Saturday in the 200-yard freestyle relay, which saw sophomores Jacqueline Park and Naomi Brown, senior Kate Flaherty and sophomore Tamara Mukulu post a time of 1:49.09 - good for ninth overall.

The Lyons then earned the victory in the 3-meter diving event as junior Samantha Nemivant recorded a score of 255.30 points for the win. Sophomore Katie Kolozsvari was close behind in fourth, notching 229.35 points.

Mukulu then went on to take 12th in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:05.15, while rookie Adrienne Corr was 18th in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:10.01.

The 400-yard medley relay team of Park, rookie Emma Sullivan, Brown and Mukulu then placed 10th with a time of 4:35.96.

Sophomore Ashton Bliss powered her way to sixth in the 1650-yard freestyle, notching a time of 19:13.34, while Corr posted 16th in the 200-yard backstroke with a mark of 2:28.30. Mukulu was 12th in the 100-yard free, touching the wall with a time of 58.22, as Park was close behind in 14th with a time of 58.30.

Rounding out the action was the 400-yard free relay team, which finished ninth in a time of 4:06.54. Comprising the team was Bliss, sophomore Riley Hicks, Corr and Mukulu.

Hamilton earned the team victory at this year's event, compiling 1814 points. Cortland State was second with 1315.5 points, followed by Oswego State with 1012 points.
