Swimming & Diving Concludes Day 3 at NEWMAC Championships

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Day three concluded at the 2018 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Swimming & Diving Championships and through 26 events, Mount Holyoke College sits ninth overall.

In the 100-yard butterfly, rookie Naomi Brown finished 16th overall, competing in the consolation finals. She posted a time of 1:00.33 in the event. The 200-yard freestyle saw first year Riley Hicks place 34th overall with a time of 2:05.77, while in the 100-yard breaststroke, junior Bri Groves was 13th overall with a time of 1:09.19 in the consolation final.

Senior captain Claire Beckett also competed in the 100-breast, finishing just outside the consolation finals in 21st with a time of 1:10.95. The 100-yard backstroke saw rookie Caitlyn Richmond take 34th with a time of 1:09.15, while classmates Courtney Dunham and Allyn Dunlap were 36th (1:10.12) and 37th (1:10.34), respectively.

The action concluded for the evening with the 200-yard medley relay as the foursome of sophomore Natalie Burkett, Groves, Brown and rookie Tamara Mukulu notched a time of 1:53.58 in the championship final. The group placed seventh overall. Additionally, the Lyons 'B' relay was 18th, competing in the consolation final. The group of Dunham, rookie Gwen Evans, senior Topaz Mukulu and Richmond recorded a time of 2:00.88.

Overall, the host Engineers lead the field with 866 points. Wheaton College sits second with 687.5 points, followed by Springfield (507.5 points), WPI (474) and Coast Guard (409.5) to round out the top five.

Action continues on Sunday with the final day beginning at 10am with the preliminaries. Finals begin at 6pm to conclude the day.
