Samantha Nemivant Earns NEWMAC Diver of the Week Honors

BOSTON, Mass. – The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) has announced its weekly awards and Mount Holyoke College student-athlete Samantha Nemivant was recognized. The first year garnered co-Diver of the Week honors for first time in her career after an outstanding week which saw her win off both boards in dual meet action at Wellesley.

A native of Scottsdale, Ariz., Nemivant another outstanding week, winning off both boards despite a 199-88 loss to Seven Sisters-rival Wellesley last week. She won the 1-meter with a score of 261.85. That mark not only earned her the win, but also sealed her qualification for the Division III Diving Regional Championships in the spring. Nemivant also captured the win off the 3-meter board with a score of 243.05.

It has been an outstanding effort through four meets for the former Notre Dame Prep standout, who has posted seven victories in eight events. She has won off both boards in three of the team's four meets thus far. She finished second off the one-meter board in action at Smith College, posting a score of 256.05 – which was the first of her two needed qualifying scores for Regionals.

Also highlighting Nemivant's efforts this season is a two-board win at Westfield State, where she captured the 1-meter with a mark of 250.60 points and earned the win on the 3-meter with a mark of 258.65 points.

Prior to arriving at Mount Holyoke, Nemivant was a three-year member of the varsity diving team. In addition to serving as captain, she was also a two-time Most Valuable Player. The AIA Division II Girls Diver of the Year, she was third at the State Championship as a senior and placed sixth at States during her junior season.

Mount Holyoke is now idle for the holiday break, but returns to action on December 2-3 when they travel to Hamilton College to compete in the Hamilton Invitational. Action begins on Friday at 4pm, with action concluding on Saturday starting at 10am.
