Swimming & Diving Competes at Smith Relays

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. - The Mount Holyoke College swimming & diving team was back in action on Saturday, taking part in the Smith College Relays. The Lyons saw a number of multiple winners in the non-scoring meet, which also featured Westfield State University.

First year Samantha Nemivant shined in the diving events, finishing second overall off the 1-meter board with a score of 256.05 points, before taking victory on the 3-meter board with a score of 235.55 points.

In the mixed 200-yard medley relay, senior Anne Kuenning, sophomore Bri Groves and seniors Katie Tyler and Emily Craig swam to victory with a time of 1:58.67. The 3x100-yard butterfly relay saw Groves and Tyler team up with junior Amy Lim for second overall with a time of 3:30.38.

The 3x100-yard backstroke relay saw first year Natalie Burkett, junior Topaz Mukulu and sophomore Delany Berry place third with a time of 3:42.72, while in the mixed 200-yard freestyle relay, the foursome of Kuenning, Tyler, Groves and Craig once again grabbed victory with a time of 1:47.22.

The foursome teammed up once again in the mixed 400-yard medley relay, placing second with a time of 4:23.69, while in the mixed 3x100-yard individual medley relay, Lim, Burkett and Berry were third with a time of 3:42.50.

Junior Cailin Van Nevel, first year Ananya Mekapati, sophomore Rachel Polfer and Groves posted third in the 200-yard backstroke relay with a mark of 2:23.88. In the final event of the day, the mixed 400-yard freestyle relay, the Lyons saw Kuenning, Tyler, Craig and Groves finish second with a mark of 3:56.86.

The Lyons are back in the pool next Saturday when they travel to the University of New England for a 1pm dual meet with the Nor'Easters.
