SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. -- The Mount Holyoke College squash team ran into its toughest opponent of the season on Sunday in the Lyons' home opener, falling 9-0 to No. 22 nationally ranked Georgetown University at the MHC Squash Courts.

"The team put in a great effort, and will use the match to prepare for the Maine trip in January where we will see other teams with solid depth from 1 to 9," said head coach Erin Robson. "Great effort from everyone."

Senior captain Elba Barra Montgomery (Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania) scored the most points among the Lyons on the day, falling 11-4, 11-3, 11-4 to Sydney Bramen at the No. 4 position. Junior Xaria Durocher (Boston, Mass.) fell 11-3, 11-3, 11-3 to Katie Hennessy at No. 1.

"Special recognition to [captains Montgomery and Dnyaneswari Haware]," Robson added. "Their experience as returners is really paying off. They have improved so much."

Mount Holyoke (3-1) won't play again until Jan. 13, when the Lyons will face both Denison and Haverford on neutral courts at Wesleyan University.
