Medford, Mass. - February 25-27, 2022 - The Mount Holyoke College squash team competed in the College Squash Association (CSA) Team Championships this past weekend, winning against Chatham (9-0) and Vassar (5-4), while falling to Connecticut College (8-1). 

Mount Holyoke started the weekend competing against Connecticut College on Friday afternoon. The Camels outlasted the Lyons 8-1, as senior Mihilya Kalahe (Panadura, Sri Lanka) was the sole victor of the day in No. 1 beating Rachel Matamoros 12-10, 11-3, 11-5. 

On Saturday, Mount Holyoke cruised to an 8-1 victory against Chatham where Kalahe at No. 1 claimed the victory against Sofia Ramos 11-7, 11-9, 11-6. Senior Giselle Cabrera (Bronx, N.Y.) won in three games (11-2, 11-3, 11-0) against Yukta Rana at No. 3. Slotted in the fourth seat, senior Melissa Marquez (Waterbury, Conn.) beat Yushi Zhang 11-1, 11-3, 11-5, while first-year Kyla Core (Philadelphia, Pa.) defeated Farzeen Shaikh 11-3, 11-4, 11-2 at No. 5. In the sixth slot, senior Elena Frogameni (Florence, Mass.) won in three games (11-1, 11-3, 11-1) against Giavanna Gibson, while first-year Paige Gershuny (Cape Girardeau, Mo.) beat Bandhana Phuyal 3-0 (11-2, 11-1, 11-7) at No. 7. 

Chatham had to default the eighth and ninth slot as the Lyons emerged with an 8-1 victory. 

Wrapping up the CSA Team Championships on Sunday, Mount Holyoke competed against Vassar, winning 5-4. Kalahe defeated Emma Adams 11-1, 11-1, 11-3 at No. 1, while Core outlasted Darina Kulaha winning 3-0 (11-4, 11-3, 11-4) at No. 5. Gershuny beat Heidi Zahnleuter in three games 11-0, 11-9, 11-3, while junior Dnyaneshwari Haware (Mumbai, India) claimed the victory over Kelsey O'Connell 11-1, 12-10, 11-1. 

Vassar had to default the ninth slot as the Lyons claimed a 5-4 victory.
