#27 Squash Falls Against #10 Brown

AMHERST, Mass. - Mount Holyoke squared-off against one of the top-10 teams in the nation on Wednesday afternoon, shouldering am 8-1 loss to Brown University. The match which was played at Amherst's Davenport Squash Courts, saw the #10 Bears move to 5-3 on the season, while the #27 Lyons move to 9-4 overall.

First year Mihiliya Kalahe Arachchige was the squad's only victor on the afternoon, battling from the top of the ladder for a solid win against Alexa Jacobs. From two, Hannah Seckendorf defeated senior Ragini Ghose by an 11-6, 11-9, 11-8 margin, while at three, senior Lessly Portillo fell to Abigail Dichter, 11-1, 11-2, 11-1.

Four saw Scarlett Bergam defeat sophomore Jennifer Mbah by an 11-3, 11-3, 11-1 margin, while from five, Sara Syed delivered an 11-7, 11-3, 11-4 victory over sophomore Kuzivakwashe Madungwe. The sixth spot saw Catherine Kimmel best senior Tanishka Sachidanand 11-1, 11-1, 11-2, while sophomore Emma Robson shouldered an 11-2, 11-1, 11-7 loss to Hannah Safford at seven.

Sophomore Genesis Lara Granados played at eight, suffering an 11-5, 11-7, 11-3 loss to Naomi Shammash, while Chloe So posted an 11-2, 11-6, 11-4 win over MHC's Nicole Lara Granados at nine.

Mount Holyoke is back on the court on Friday when it opens play at the Pioneer Valley Invitational, hosted at both MHC and Amherst. The Lyons will host Haverford on Friday at 6pm..
