HARTFORD, Conn. - Senior Tanishka Sachidanand notched the final and deciding point on Tuesday, helping Mount Holyoke College to a 5-4 victory over Connecticut College. The match, which was played at Trinity College, saw the Lyons improve to 9-3 on the season and post their first win over the Camels since February of 2017. Conn College slips to 1-7 on the season.

Sachidanand battled against CC's Jacqueline Chu at seven, as the match came down to the final three players on court. MHC's senior grabbed 11-9 wins in both of the first games and was able to hold off Chu in the third to win by an overall 11-9, 11-9, 12-10 margin. Playing a three-court system, the Lyons grabbed a 4-3 lead as rookie Mihiliya Kalahe Arachchige earned a convicing victory at the top of the ladder against Davis Lemay, 11-3, 11-5, 11-4.

MHC saw the match even-up at 4-4 as senior Lessly Portillo put forth a hard-fought effort against Denise Bonilla. Portillo opened in convincing fashion, grabbing a 2-0 lead behind 11-8 scores in the opening games, but Bonilla battled back, gutting out a 12-10 and 11-3 win to send it to a fifth game. In the end, the Camels player proved too tough, taking the point with a final 11-8 mark.

Senior Ragini Ghose earned the victory at two, besting Margaret Davey despite falling behind in the opening game. She recovered to post the 9-11, 11-6, 11-8, 11-5 decision. In the fifth spot, sophomore Jennifer Mbah faced-off in another four-game effort, taking on Johanile Hurtado. Tied 1-1, Mbah rallied to win 11-3 and 11-9 for the final line score of 11-6, 7-11, 11-3, 11-9. At eight, sophomore Emma Robson shouldered another tough loss in four, falling 11-7, 11-9, 9-11, 11-2 to Birgitta Quinn.

The match opened with rookie Maeve Watts-Roy and sophomores Kuzivakwashe Madungwe and Genesis Lara Granados all taking the court. Lara Granados played Noelle Giuliano at nine, suffering a tough 14-12, 11-6, 12-14, 11-8 loss. Madungwe also battled from six, shouldering the loss despite an opening game win. She fell to Liliana Vazquez by a 7-11, 11-7, 11-5, 11-5 score. Rounding out the action for the Lyons' ladder was Watts-Roy, who took on Molly Carabatsos at four, powering her way to a 6-11, 11-9, 11-4, 11-7 victory.

Mount Holyoke is right back on the court on Wednesday when it faces #10 Brown University in a neutral site match hosted at Amherst College.
