#27 Squash Shoulders 7-2 Loss at #20 Tufts

BELMONT, Mass. - Mount Holyoke College got wins near the top of the ladder, but Tufts University dominated the lower half enroute to a 7-2 victory on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the #20 Jumbos move to 1-1 on the season, while the #27 Lyons suffer their first loss of the season to fall to 3-1.

At the top of the ladder, Tufts' Julie Yeung edged out Lyons senior Brandy Williamson by an 11-8, 11-9, 11-8 margin. Junior Nadindhi Udangawa earned a point for MHC from the second spot, besting Claire Davidson, 12-10, 11-6, 11-3. At three, the Lyons got their second point of the contest from junior Ragini Ghose, who posted an 11-9, 11-5, 11-5 victory against Zarena Jafry.

The Jumbos earned the win at four as Rachel Windreich defeated Emily Chang, 11-9, 11-2, 11-4, and went on for the 11-2, 11-6, 11-2 win from five as Catherine Shanahan beat Lyons Jennifer Mbah. The sixth spot on the ladder saw Lauren Banner earn an 11-1, 11-4, 11-9 victory over Lessly Portillo, while from seven, Sahana Karthik defeated MHC rookie Kuzivakwashe Madungwe by an 8-11, 11-9, 11-4, 11-2 margin.

From the eighth spot, Chista Irani earned an 11-4, 11-4, 11-4 win against MHC's Tanishka Sachidanand, while at nine, Chloe Kantor grabbed an 11-8, 11-7, 11-2 victory against Lyons' Nicole Lara Granados. Rounding out the action just outside the top nine was Sinclair Meggitt, who earned an 11-2, 11-3, 11-3 win over MHC's Emma Lynch.

Mount Holyoke is now idle for the Thanksgiving holiday, but will play its final match of the fall semester on December 2nd when it squares-off against Northeastern in a neutral site match at Amherst College at 4pm.
