Squash Shoulders Loss at Connecticut College

NEW LONDON, Conn. - The Lyons squash team posted several victories, but it wasn't enough, falling to Connecticut College by a 6-3 margin on Wednesday evening. With the win, the #27 Camels move to 4-11, while the #26 Lyons of MHC are now also 4-11 on the season.

Playing a three-court system, Mount Holyoke found itself down by a 2-1 margin to get things going. Junior Catherine Ryan posted victory in her match, but sophmore Sanjna Merchant suffered a 3-1 defeat in her battle and classmate Amanda Lee shouldered a 3-1 loss to Victoria Allen.

Senior Xianger Fei cruised to victory in the fifth position, but subsequent losses from senior Samantha Rosado by a 3-1 margin and junior Anna Hartman by a tough 3-2 score saw the Lyons down 5-2.

Sophomore Allison Shilling also lost a heartbreaker, falling 3-2, but first year Brandy Williamson closed out the contest with a 3-0 win in the first position.

Mount Holyoke returns to action on Saturday when it travels to Clinton, N.Y., to take on St. Lawrence (1:30pm) and Hamilton (4pm).
