AMHERST, Mass. - Senior goaltender Amanda Manaster posted 14 saves, but the Lyons were unable to hold off a tough Amherst College offense, falling 8-0 in non-conference action on Thursday afternoon. With the victory, the Mammoths are now 1-0, while the Lyons slip to 1-1-0 on the young season.

Amherst opened the game's scoring at 7:59 of the opening half on a goal by Rubii Tamen. That marker would be the first of five straight over the next 30 minutes as the Mammoths saw both Tamen and Navva Sedigh each record two goals in that span. Manaster (Beverly Hills, Calif./Beverly Hills) was stellar in the opening frame, despite allowing the goals, as she recorded 10 saves through the first 45 minutes of action, including several from point-blank range.

In the second half, the Lyons held strong through the first 15 minutes of the stanza. Amherst broke through in the 61:15 as Lexy Cook scored the first of three straight goals in a six-minute span for the home team.

Manaster (4 saves) and sophomore Maria-Lucia Delgado (Bronx, N.Y./Beacon School) combined for five saves in the frame, as Delgado stopped one shot over the final 25:36 of relief.

Mount Holyoke returns to action on Saturday when it travels to Southern Vermont College for a 7pm contest against the Mountaineers. Amherst heads to Bowdoin for a 12pm NESCAC match-up against the Polar Bears.
