Northampton, Mass. - Junior midfielder Krissy Williams netted what proved to be the game-winner as Smith soccer picked up a 2-0 NEWMAC victory over Mount Holyoke College Thursday afternoon. The Pioneers boost their record to 6-9-1 overall and 2-7 in conference play. Mount Holyoke is now 2-13-2 on the season and 0-8-1 in NEWMAC action.

Smith wasted little time getting on the board as Williams bagged her second goal of the season just 1:25 into the match. Williams collected the loose ball after a save from the MHC keeper and chipped it over the head of Delgado to take a 1-0 lead. The two teams would play scoreless the rest of the half with Smith getting 11 shot attempts compared to eight for the Lyons.

Mount Holyoke's best opportunity of the afternoon came in the 63rd minute after a foul by the Pioneers. Senior captain Dale Leonhart (Petaluma, Calif./St. Vincent de Paul) booted a shot from 45 yards out that was stopped by Hall, but she was able to gather the loose ball before the Lyons were able to kick it in net.

Smith's lead was doubled when senior Jordan Isaacs (Weston, Conn./Weston) tallied her second goal of the season at the 75:46 mark. Isaacs dribbled around two MHC defenders and launched a shot to the upper left corner of the cage approximately 25 yards out.

In net for the Pioneers, senior Shelby Hall (West Springfield, Mass./West Springfield) made four saves. Goalkeepers Maria-Lucia Delgado (Bronx, N.Y./Beacon School) and junior Amanda Manaster (Beverly Hills, Calif./Beverly Hills)combined for 10 stops for the Lyons.

Mount Holyoke will be back in action on Saturday for its senior day match at home against Babson at 3:30pm. The Lyons will be honoring seven seniors. Smith is also in action on Saturday, hosting Clark at 2:00pm
