WELLESLEY, Mass. - Wellesley College soccer sophomore Carley Phillips (Waterford, Conn.) scored the game's only goal 28 seconds into the first half to secure a 1-0 Blue victory over visiting Mount Holyoke College in New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play on Saturday at the Wellesley Fields Complex.

Wellesley improves to 2-4-2 overall and 1-1-0 in NEWMAC play, while Mount Holyoke is now 2-6-0 on the season and 0-2-0 in conference.

Phillips scored on a broken play in the Mount Holyoke penalty area, collecting a failed clear and knocking the ball inside the right post for her fourth of the season less than 30 seconds after kick-off.

The Blue applied constant pressure throughout the rest of the game, unleashing 32 shots, and getting 11 shots on frame, but could not get a second goal past Mount Holyoke junior goalkeeper Amanda Manaster (Beverly Hills, Calif./Beverly Hills). The Blue finished with a 32-2 edge in shots and an 8-1 advantage in corner kick opportunities.
